While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NKJV)

Spiritual realities that are weighty, meaningful, glorious and eternal are hidden to us whilst realities that are shallow, trifling, inglorious and temporary are very easily seen – this is the challenge to our short life. Our invisible adversary the devil takes advantage of this fact “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NKJV)

Right now, whether you choose to accept it or not, there is an invisible suffering body of believers that you belong to, who are advancing an invisible Gospel that you are commissioned to, to rescue people from an invisible hell that you were going to and are building an invisible kingdom in order to glorify an invisible God. Dr Nik Ripken gives a devastating statistic: 70% of Christians are persecuted yet only 10% of Christians in the west give a clear Gospel presentation to anyone in their life.

Right now as you are eating breakfast, there is a there is a hungry brother or sister. As you shower there is a brother who is dirty and cold. As you receive an embrace from a friend there is a brother who is in solitary confinement. As you watch television there is a brother working to share the Gospel. All this is invisible to us but let us plead with God to circumcise our hearts to be sensitive to these realities “…take away the foreskins of your heart…” Jeremiah 4:4 (NKJV)

Our founder, Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned and tortured over 14 years stated, “I had around me men like Lazarus the beggar hungry and covered with boils but I knew that angels would take these men to the bosom of Abraham. I saw them as they will be in the future. I saw in the shabby weak martyr before me the splendidly crowned saint of tomorrow.”

Are you viewing your life as it will be in the future? Life is short and we will meet Jesus very soon.

‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’….. Matthew 25:34-36 (NKJV) “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.” Matthew 25:41-43 (NKJV)

Challenge for this month: Please pray and ask God if he is calling you to be more generous and sensitive to the needs of the persecuted. Please donate to VOMedical to meet the medical needs of our brothers and sisters.
