A small house church in western China was raided by five policemen and 15 locals in late February. The pastor was thrown to the floor and restrained while police scuffled with a 50-year-old male church member. When the pastor told police the other man had a heart condition, they set the sick man upright and began to beat the pastor.
Police then took 12 members of the house church plus two pastors to the police station for questioning. On the way to the station, the man with the heart condition died, apparently as a result of the trauma. Police have refused to take responsibility for his death.
