Voice of the Martyrs has helped to fund a discipleship training centre and dormitory in Nigeria. The facility houses new Christians, primarily Muslim converts who have come from various parts of Nigeria.
Many have suffered severe persecution from their own families and communities. Some are very recent converts and victims of violence perpetrated by Boko Haram and Fulani tribesmen.
The new disciples at the centre receive basic instruction in the scriptures, care and counselling from the pastoral team, medical treatment at an adjacent clinic, and vocational skills training to help them learn to support themselves in their new life in Christ.
Vocational training courses available include carpentry, tailoring, use of computers, photography, shoe making and farming. The courses generally go for a year, on completion some go on to Bible college, wanting to become pastors, eventually returning home to impact their own people group. Others use their new skills to open small businesses.
