On 17 March, Assemblies of God pastor Ajay Kumar and Bible college student Assaryav were lured into a trap in Begusarai, Bihar state and then bashed by Hindu militants.
Not only did police not intervene, they subsequently arrested the two Christians on charges of “forcible conversions”.
Kumar and Assaryav remained in custody until after midnight when they were released on bail, charged with “deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of citizens of India” under sections 295/295-A of the Indian Penal Code.
A minority comprised mostly of the poor and marginalised, the Indian church has little voice or influence inside India.

- Ask the Lord to heal Pastor Kumar and Assaryav. Pray He will embolden them so they may not be fearful.
- Pray the charges against them will be dropped.
- Ask the Lord to use the words and conduct of these men as a witness to the Gospel. May it have an effect on the perpetrators and those in authority.
Sadly, there can be little justice within India for Christians when the majority of the nation’s leaders, including Shri Narendra Modi (PM) and Yogti Adityanath (Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh) are extremist Hindus. With the BJP’s growing antipathy towards minority religions, there will continue to be an increase in internal conflict. यही ज़िन्दगी है!
Pray to the Lord who is above any laws of men to overrule and to strengthen and grow His church in India. God bless you Ann.
