Gabriel and Noni were the only Christians in their Muslim village.
One day, a Muslim woman died unexpectedly, and her two sons consulted a witch doctor to figure out why she died.
He told them that the Christians were responsible for her death as they had a magic object that gave them power.
The two men then visited Gabriel and Noni’s house in the middle of the night to find the object. As the men tried to break into the house, one of Gabriel and Noni’s sons was hit in the head and began bleeding. Noni took him to the hospital while Gabriel and their other children fled to the police station. The Muslim men then burnt their house down.

Let us pray.
- Pray for Gabriel and Noni’s family as they rebuild their lives in a new village.
- Pray that they are healed from the trauma they’ve experienced and that their faith will grow stronger.
- Pray for the perpetrators and the witch doctor. Ask the Lord to somehow use this traumatic incident for good, for spiritual blessing for the family and the community.
Praying
In Psalm 48 Verse 8 we are reminded of the eternal home in heaven that is waiting for those whose trust in in Christ.
8 As we have heard,
so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
in the city of our God:
God makes her secure
for ever.
Almighty Father, we grieve with our brothers and sisters throughout the nation of Indonesia who are targeted because of their faith in Jesus. We thank you for the promise of eternal security when our homes here are temporal and could be gone at any moment.
We praise you for Gabriel and Noni, their family, their faith and perseverance as they look to you during this time of persecution with the loss of their home and attacks from the evil one. Bless them with a pure heart, a heart that is single mindedly devoted to you and especially as they settle into a new village and strengthen their hope of seeing you as Jesus promised. Enable them to forgive their attackers and grow in their faith in you.
Heal them Lord from any trauma and use them and their experience as a powerful testimony to your grace and goodness. Have mercy upon them.
We particularly pray for the perpetrators of the crimes and for the witch-doctor that they might be convicted by the power of the Holy Spirit of their sin and the Lordship and saving work of Jesus. Turn them Father from serving idols to worshipping you the living and true God and to waiting for your Son from heaven.
