A young couple who placed their faith in Christ less than six months ago have already paid a heavy price.
Shortly after Phiarune and his wife, Lai became Christians, they moved in with Lai’s parents. Lai’s parents, however disapproved of their new Christian practices, including their prayers before meals. When local police surveyed village residents, documenting the number of Christians, Lai’s father told them he didn’t want his daughter and son-in-law included in his family registration booklet, which serves as a passport combined with a social security card for the family unit.
Phiarune, Lai and their young son had to move out of the house.

Our Gracious God and Father, we give thanks for Phiarune and his wife, Lai and their new-found faith in Christ, and for their perseverance under trial. Teach and strengthen them to hold onto Christ’s promises of hope and to ‘count it all joy when they suffer all kinds of trials for the name of Christ’. Bless their wider family and the village to which they belong with the true testimony of your power and love, pointing all to Jesus Christ, his life, death and resurrection. On a practical level we ask that you might provide their own family registration booklet and the accompanying benefits of citizenship. Thank you Father for other brothers and sisters and strengthen each one to be an outpost for you in this lost world. To your Glory, Amen.
