After being shackled for three days and fined for buying a banana from a Christian vendor, Maung Cia sought out a pastor in a neighbouring village. The pastor shared the Gospel with Maung and two of his friends, and they accepted Christ.
Maung then led 10 other villagers to Jesus and invited the pastor to lead a worship service in his village. Midway through the service, Buddhist villagers severely beat the pastor and stoned the worshippers. Village leaders later forced five families out of the village.
VOM is providing the families with food and housing assistance. “Now as much as I can I’m sharing the Good News and I will continue to do so,” Maung said. “Please remember us in your prayers. Thank you for your support and your love. God bless you.”

- Praise God for taking the barbaric and unjust punishment inflicted on Maung, to bring about a spiritual awakening.
- Pray for those who oppose the Lord and His Good News in the area, that He will use the witness of these new believers to encourage others to repentance and salvation.
- Pray the families affected may be strengthened in their faith and be mightily encouraged as they see the hand of God at work.

Father, You are a God who sees, who knows and who acts. You are a God of justice, and of mercy. Thank You for bringing about transformation despite the violence of circumstances in Myanmar. Thank You for doing a new thing amongst us, as You bring Your Kingdom here. Please continue to awaken and spit people towards repentance and faith as they see the faith of these families. Please change the hearts of their persecutors, that they would learn the Truth of Your Way from the witness borne by these families. Please provide for these families and give them courage to persevere. Thank You for providing for them and thank You that Maung is all the more sharing Your Good News even though he’s suffered loss. Thank You for the gift of faith that You’ve given to him, and let Your Kingdom come as he waits, as we wait, may we wait in patience and boldness, sharing Your Good News with those You happen for us to meet.
In Jesus’ Name, for His glory.
Amen and amen again and again. Have mercy Lord and let the Gospel of Jesus grow.
Amen Ruby with thanks to God!
Blessed Lord Jesus, through your servant the Apostle James you have said, Chapter 1Vs2 ‘Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.’ And ‘ 12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.’ Encourage the hearts of these, our brothers and sisters, especially Maung Cia, who have remained faithful under pressure and injustice. Continue to pour out your the Spirit of Jesus upon them that they may remain true in character and witness to their Lord and Saviour Jesus and thank you for each one of them, their faith, perseverance and witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. May there be fruit and all to your glory.
