Pastor Otamayomi Ogedengbe of Deeper Life Bible Church was abducted on 10 May, by suspected Fulani militants.
Pastor Ogedengbe was taken away at gunpoint while conducting a Bible study at his church in Akure, Ondo state.
According to the pastor’s wife, “The armed men shot their way into the church’s building where the programme was being held and took him away with a gun pointed at his head.”

“The herdsmen entered into the church’s auditorium and went straight to Pastor Ogendengbe, who was preaching from the altar,” a church member said, “They ordered us to lie down on the floor while taking away the pastor.”
The gunmen called Ogedengbe’s family members three days later, demanding a 30-million-naira (approximately $93,300) ransom for his release.
Islamic jihadists murdered at least 1,470 Christians and abducted over 2,200 in Nigeria in the first four months of this year, a report has revealed. More than half of the killings were carried out by Muslim Fulani herdsmen.
Let us pray.
- Intercede for Pastor Ogedengbe and other kidnap victims, asking that they will be sheltered from harm and safely released. Uphold the families of those who have suffered and died in these recent attacks.
- Pray the Lord will grant His wisdom and leading to the family and to the authorities as they try to secure Pastor Ogedengbe’s release.
- Pray for God’s strength and protection to be upon all those who are faithfully proclaiming the message of salvation through Jesus Christ to the Fulani people.
