VOM Australia helped fund a project to launch 36,000 North Korean dialect Bibles which included direct text and study notes from 50 different Bible stories. These high altitude balloons are sent from South Korea into North Korea. In North Korea, if you are caught with a Bible you’ll be sent to a concentration camp – it’s a well-known fact. But the punishment will not only be directed towards the person with the Bible, but towards three generations of his or her family. Why is it a crime to own a Bible in North Korea? Because North Korea is the only country on the face of the earth that was fashioned as an intentional distortion of the Christian faith. Christianity is the only thing that has the power to expose the North Korean regime for the fraud that it is! And that’s why, despite the risks, getting Bibles into North Korea is one of the most important things we can do.
