Hamza, who was raised as a Christian in a family indebted to a brick kiln owner, did not experience persecution until he brought a Muslim to church.
The kiln owner had no problem with Hamza attending church, but their relationship changed drastically when Hamza brought a Muslim co-worker to church and the man accepted Christ. Shortly after that, the kiln owner met Hamza at the entrance to his church and beat him so badly that his shoulder was broken.
Despite this, Hamza continued to work toward paying off his debts to the owner. Two years ago, Hamza was sold to another brick kiln owner. About two months ago, two men on a motorcycle stopped Hamza on the way home from the market to beat him. Hamza said they were acting on orders from his former owner, who is still angry at him. Hamza asks us to pray that God will change the hearts of those who are angry at him.

Blessed Lord Jesus, we give thanks for the perseverance of brother Hamza in the face of beatings and other persecution. Thank you Lord for the evidence of the your work in Hamza’s life and his faithful witness. We pray that through your Spirit you might continue to help Hamza be your humble and gracious servant. Please protect him against future physical beatings and spiritual attack. Bless the persecutors with conversion and may the nation of Pakistan, its leaders and peoples know the same experience; freedom from sin and idols through the person and work of Christ.
May both brick kiln owners and each and every persecutor observe Hamza’s good conduct in Christ and turn and be converted.
