In early August, suspected Islamists attempted to kidnap a church elder serving in a Muslim community in Mindanao.
‘Aljon’ was followed by a van and two men on a motorcycle after he left his store, but he received a call warning him of the danger and was able to escape. According to a VOM-supported pastor, Aljon believes he was spared through God’s intervention.
Due to continued threats, he has since relocated, leaving the church and his store. The pastor asks that we pray for believers in the region, many of whom are relocating because of threats and violence.
