VOM’s Front Line Ministry fund was developed to directly assist pastors, evangelists and Christian workers who minister in the face of hostility and persecution.
Voice of the Martyrs, with the help of our donors, is currently supporting three frontline workers who are ministering to Merapu tribal people on Sumba Island, Indonesia.
Merapu is a belief in the ancestral heritage of the people of Sumba. The core teachings include worshipping the spirits of ancestors.
It is illegal to proselytise in Indonesia, and Christians frequently face persecution in this majority Muslim country.
Despite the risks, VOM supported workers continue to minister on Sumba Island. Their outreach activities include evangelism and Bible distribution, literacy and language lessons, and regular visits to Christian homes.
