Pastoring or church planting in restricted nations often means overseeing many house churches. Small congregations can be spread out across different regions and can total hundreds of people.
This is the case in Vietnam and pastors will often travel hours to visit house churches to encourage, train and disciple them. It can mean treacherous journeys on dirt tracks or through mountainous areas. They also often face the threat of persecution, being stopped or raided, especially if they break down.
Voice of the Martyrs Australia, with the help of our supporters, has recently provided ten pastors in Vietnam with a motorbike each. The motorbikes make travel more efficient, much easier, and are more cost-efficient than other forms of transport.
Recipient Testimony – Le
Le is a lead pastor who currently takes care of 23 churches. He is involved in missions, church planting and visiting persecuted believers. Just this year, his ministry has seen 117 new converts and has planted two new churches. He also trains other leaders and helps those in need.
Le was thrilled to receive a motorbike.
“This new motorbike will help me serve God. Praise the Lord for He is the provider.”
Recipient Testimony – Vu
Vu felt blessed receiving a motorbike.
Vu is a leader in charge of a province in the north of the country. This year Vu has seen 21 households come to Christ. They are facing persecution from the government and need encouragement and discipleship.
A return trip to visit these families, before Vu received a motorbike, would take him four days.
“It took me two days to visit persecuted believers and a new motorbike makes it safer and faster for me to travel to visit them.”
Vu is also training 10 new leaders in discipleship and needs to visit them often
