The terror began on 14 August 1983, when Russell Stendal, a bush pilot, landed his plane in a remote Colombian village. Gunfire exploded throughout the town and Russell was kidnapped by rebel guerrillas. His ordeal was to continue for 142 days. With little to do deep in the jungle, Russell began to write the story of his life and to record his experiences within the guerrilla camp. This quickly became a bridge to reach his captors and serves as the basis of this incredible story of how God’s love can penetrate a physical, as well as an ideological, jungle.
