Five lawyers who defended Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian woman who was sentenced to death for apostasy in Sudan, have been accused of tarnishing “the image of Sudan by allowing human rights organisations to put pressure on the government.”
On 15 September they were prohibited from leaving Sudan and face the possibility of having their licences revoked. Since Meriam Ibrahim’s death penalty was overturned in June, the lawyers have received threats from extremist groups accusing the attorneys of being un-Islamic. The lawyers are not Christians but defend Christians and other minorities in Sudan.

- Pray these lawyers may remember the witness of Meriam and seek the Lord for guidance during this uncertain time.
- Pray the threats received may come to nothing so the lawyers can continue to speak out for Christians like Meriam. Pray for their protection.
- Ask God to our out His Spirit on this nation so many may come to recognise the one true God and follow Him.
