TANZANIA: New Believer Rejected

TANZANIA: New Believer Rejected

Juma met with his pastor secretly after coming to Christ, afraid that his Muslim family would find out about his conversion. When his wife eventually found some of his Christian books, she immediately called his brothers, all radical Muslims. His brothers burned the books, beat Juma and threatened him.

When word spread that he was a Christian, Juma was completely rejected by his relatives, neighbours and friends. He also lost his job. “No one will hire him, as no one is willing to give an apostate work,” a VOM worker said.

  • Pray for Juma, that the Lord would minister to him during this season of loss. Pray he will be given the spiritual strength to endure.
  • Ask our Lord to supply Juma with all his needs. Pray for employment opportunities.
  • Ask the Lord to have mercy on Juma’s wife and family members. Ask Him to soften their hearts and impress upon them the need to be reconciled to God through Christ.

NEPAL: Christian Woman Beaten and Abandoned by Husband

NEPAL: Christian Woman Beaten and Abandoned by Husband

After Mamta became a Christian in 2010, she was fired from her job, and her husband demanded that she renounce her faith and stop going to church. But Mamta would not abandon Jesus Christ.

Then one day, her husband beat her so badly that she lost vision in her right eye.

When he later left her and remarried, Mamta and her son moved in with her Hindu parents. They blame Mamta for not obeying her husband, and they won’t allow her to take her son to church. Instead, they are raising him as a Hindu. Mamta wants to live on her own so she can teach her son about Jesus.

  • Pray for Mamta’s spiritual growth. Ask God to surround her with Christians to provide her with help and spiritual encouragement.
  • Pray that Mamta’s sufferings will not be in vain and that the Lord will use her testimony to bring strength to others.
  • Pray that her parents will come to know Christ and pray for the Holy Spirit’s work in her son’s life as well.

PAKISTAN: “My God Will Provide”

PAKISTAN: “My God Will Provide”

A Christian man who lost his job after refusing to convert to Islam is currently in hiding after receiving death threats from local Muslims.

Asif, who was a valued supervisor at a garment factory, used to lead 10 co-workers in prayer before work every morning. In 2017, the factory owner approached him and told him to stop the prayers. Instead, Asif gave him a Bible to read so he could learn about Christianity. Several months later, the owner brought an Islamic cleric in to persuade Asif to accept Islam, but Asif refused.

Last year, the owner tried to force Asif to offer Muslim prayers with him, but Asif still did not give in. Finally, the owner gave him an ultimatum: Accept Islam or lose your job. Asif replied, “My God will provide me with everything,” and the owner fired him.

  • Pray for Asif and his family, that the Lord will encourage them in their faith and protect them from those who wish to cause them harm. Pray also that Asif will find a new job.
  • Pray that in the meantime, the family will see the Lord’s mighty and generous provision.
  • Thank the Lord for Asif’s faithfulness. Pray his witness in his former workplace may be powerfully used by God.
