ISRAEL: Congregation Facing Repeated Harassment from Anti-Missionaries

The Beit Hallel Messianic Congregation in Ashdod, southern Israel has experienced systematic harassment from the local anti-missionary group.

The harassment includes intimidation, fear tactics, vandalism, curses, chanting, blocking the entrance to the church and disrupting services.

The congregation initially won a court case against its harassers and obtained a restraining order, but that restraining order has been repeatedly ignored and violated. Ultra-Orthodox anti-missionary groups, such as Yad L’Achim, oppose Christian activity in Israel. Messianic Jews are Jews who recognise Jesus as the Messiah, but groups like Yad L’Achim do not see Messianics as true Jews. Pray for these Christians in the region as persecution from orthodox groups continues to increase.

  • Ask God to give local Christians gracious words and courage to be His witnesses, even as they face opposition.
  • Pray these believers will be given an opportunity to meet for corporate worship so they can encourage one another in the faith.
  • Pray for the members of the Ultra-Orthodox groups, that the Lord Jesus may be made known to them.

USA: Bob Fu and Family Subject to CCP Harassment

USA: Bob Fu and Family Subject to CCP Harassment

Late last month, Dr Bob Fu (also known as Xiqiu Fu), the founder and president of ChinaAid, prayed publicly at the National Mall in Washington DC, asking God to make members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) repent.

Prior to praying, Dr Fu learned that the Chinese Communist Party had just dispatched agents in the United States to harass his family. “Heidi, my wife, called me,” he said, “and told me that the Chinese Communist Party ‘has sent their spies to our house. Now they are harassing me and our children.'”

When the prayer meeting ended, Texas police officers dispersed harassers, some waving signs that read, “Xiqiu Fu started the coronavirus.”

ChinaAid is an international human rights organisation which exposes religious persecution by the CCP and promotes religious freedom for all.

Dr Fu, born and raised in China, a student leader in the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, converted to Christianity while in China. During this time, he worked in a government job during the day and led house church services at night. When authorities discovered Dr Fu’s ministry, they imprisoned him and Heidi. With help from then President Clinton, Dr Fu exiled to the US.

Although the CCP demonstrated animosity for Dr Fu in the past, they never threatened him so blatantly. Rarely do foreign citizens so openly threaten American citizens in the United States.

Dr Fu and his family are in a safe location, protected by local police and federal law enforcement agencies. The situation is being investigated.
