Following the June election, the president issued several decrees that will affect Christians in Turkey. According to a Turkish pastor, meetings in homes are now illegal.

Though the law may be intended to hinder Islamic sectarian meetings, it will definitely hinder Christians meeting as well.

Some churches also have police stationed outside during meetings — ostensibly to provide security — however, an unfortunate consequence is that some people are deterred from attending. “People are more fearful” the pastor said.

  • Pray the Holy Spirit will help the people overcome their fear and take every opportunity to continue meeting together.
  • Pray this opposition will in no way hinder the advance of the Gospel. May it be used by the Lord to strengthen His children in faith and make them all the more determined to share the love of God with others.
  • Ask the Lord to minister to those in authority and draw many to Himself.
