Yusuf Kintu, a 41-year-old former Imam of Macca Mosque in Dolwe Island, Mayuge District was killed on 7 December by a Muslim mob. Yusuf had converted to Christianity a week before he was attacked.
According to Pastor Andrew Nyanma of the Full Gospel Church Dolwe, Yusuf had put his faith in Christ on 30 November after hearing the Gospel message.
“We had been talking on several occasions but he was so argumentative when we touched on matters related to faith. He was a brilliant Muslim Imam but also respected other people’s faith. On this day, he was calm and receptive. He gave me humble time to explain to him why Christ is the only way to the Father. He repented of his sins and committed to following Christ.” Pastor Andrew said.
Three days after Yusuf was saved, his wife Hashfa divorced him. She left with two of their young children to her father’s home in Bugiri District, leaving behind the two older children, Abudkriim 19, and Sauda 16.
According to several witnesses, the local Muslim community was upset with Yusuf for leaving Islam and becoming a Christian. Yusuf was severely beaten and was left unconscious. Pastor Andrew took him to the hospital, where he later died.
Islam’s influence has increased in the majority Christian nation in the past few years. Many Christians within the majority Muslim border regions are facing severe persecution, especially those who convert from Islam.

Thank you, Lord, you are still saving souls in Uganda. Thank you for the faithful witness of Yusuf. May his death not be in vain.
Please bless Pastor Andrew’s ministry in the midst of this devastation on Yusuf’s family.
Please bring conviction on all Ugandan authorities to bring justice to all people living in the nation.
Lord we thank you that this former Iman decided to forsake Islam and accept you as his Lord and Saviour. Lord he is now with you forever and no muslim can take that away from him. We pray that his death will bring the fruits you desire, and not the rotten ones satan does, and that other muslims will come to know you because of Yusuf’s decision to make you his God. Please protect Pastor Andrew, his family and church from any reprisals from muslims, and may you continue to use Pastor Andrew and his church to bring other muslims to salvation in you. May those who did this horrendous crime face justice for it.
In your Mighty name we pray.
In Jeremiah 10Vs6-7 we read, “6 No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power. 7 Who should not fear you, King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise leaders of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you.” Indeed, you alone are great and there is none like you; your greatness is unfathomable and yet you draw close to us by the Lord Jesus and your Spirit. Please help all Muslim Background Converts as they seek to follow you. We especially give thanks for Yusuf Kintu, his life and witness. Strengthen your people in troubled regions of Uganda not to fear or be easily intimidated and remind them of the great hope of heaven as they live and walk with Christ their Lord and Saviour.
