Iran | Imprisoned since 2016
Iranian authorities have continued their campaign to intimidate, harass and arrest house church members, especially converts from Islam. At a family gathering in August 2016, authorities raided a gathering of Christians while at a picnic and arrested a group of them including Amin Afshar Naderi.

Ebrahim-FirouziEbrahim Firouzi
Iran | Imprisoned since 2013
Being a former Muslim, Ebrahim has been arrested several times for his Christian activities. Beginning in January 2011 he was accused of evangelising, apostasy and associating with foreign organisations and was held for 154 days. He was ‘conditionally’ released, meaning he could be re-arrested any time to complete his sentence. In 2013 Ebrahim was re-arrested and imprisoned 53 days charged with organising evangelistic activities, circulating information against Iran’s Islamic regime and administering a Christian website.

Yklas Kabduakasov
Kazakhstan | Imprisoned since 2015
Kabduakasov fearlessly shared the Gospel with his family and friends after his conversion from Islam. He was arrested after secret police searched his home and confiscated Christian books. He is currently serving two years’ imprisonment in a labour camp for ‘inciting religious hatred’.

Maryam Naghash-Zargaran
Iran | Imprisoned since 2013
Maryam, an Iranian Christian convert and children’s music teacher, was first arrested in 2013 for “acting against national security.” The day of her arrest, Maryam received a phone call from the intelligence police in Tehran. She was told to report to them where she was immediately arrested and kept for three days. Maryam was then transferred to Evin Prison.

Hueon-Soo-LimPastor Hyeon Soo Lim
North Korea | Imprisoned since 2015
Pastor Hyeon Soo Lim has visited North Korea more than 100 times since 1997, where he helped to establish an orphanage and a nursing home. He was detained in February 2015 and North Korea released footage in August of Pastor Lim, apparently reading from a script, confessing that he had committed crimes against the state.

Pastor Haile Nayzgi was arrested by security police for leading a church comprised of over 100 house groups.

China | Imprisoned since 2012
Lacheng Ren is a founder of a Christian bookstore in Taiyuan. Along with an employee Wenxi Li, he was arrested and sentenced to prison for this role in the Enyu Bookstore in Taiyuan.

Pakistan | Imprisoned since 2010
Imran Ghafur Masih was accused of burning pages of the Koran. Imran was cleaning his brother’s retail shop and while he was burning the rubbish, pages of an Islamic book flew into the fire and burned.

Asia BibiAsia Bibi
Pakistan | Imprisoned since 2009
Asia Bibi, a Christian mother, was sentenced to death for blasphemy after her neighbour accused Bibi of insulting the prophet Mohammed. While she maintains her innocence, an accusation of blasphemy is enough to warrant the death penalty in Pakistan. Bibi was sentenced in November 2010 and is the first woman ever to receive the death sentence for blasphemy in Pakistan.

Yang Hua
China | Imprisoned since 2015
Yang Hua, one of the pastors of Huoshi Church, Guizhou province, has been held in police custody since 9 December 2015, after he resisted the authorities’ attempts to confiscate church property. Officials accused him of the crime of “obstruction of justice” and “gathering a crowd to disturb social order”, sentencing him to five days in detention for each charge.

Eritrea | Imprisoned since 2004
Dr Kiflu Gebremeskel, the chair of the Eritrean Evangelical Alliance, senior pastor and leading figure in the Full Gospel Church, has been imprisoned since May 2004. He was arrested in an early morning raid on his home in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea.

Kidane WeldouKidane Weldou
Eritrea | Imprisoned since 2005
Pastor Kidane Weldou disappeared, his vehicle found abandoned in downtown Asmara and is presumably being detained by Eritrean security forces. He is married, has four daughters and is a senior pastor of the Full Gospel Church. He has been a leader in the church for many years as well as being a member of the executive committee of the Gideons International in Eritrea.
