Christmas Care Burkina Faso

The project’s beneficiaries were 1,000 children of Evangelical Christians displaced due to the terrorist violence and persecution in northern Burkina Faso.

Packs included a Bible or Christian storybook, blanket, and food (rice, pasta, oil). Additionally, water and coffee were bought and offered to the children and their families during the distribution of the packages.

The packs touched the children and their parents. The worsening situation in the country impacts their lives. This practical help has shown them God’s love in action. The composition of the packages improved the physical and spiritual well-being of children and their families. The blankets that were part of the packages are one of the snapped-up items, as the cold wind can cause hypothermia.

The local team encountered a few problems during the project’s implementation, particularly regarding security, as jihadists continued their attacks. There were only short periods when the local team could travel and reach the displaced Christians. They took the risk to travel, taking appropriate security steps and trusting the Lord for safe travel and distribution.

“I want to ask you one thing. Only one thing. You have received packages, and you are happy. But I want to ask you and encourage you. You have received Bibles and Bible stories. Read them; read them with your children. Use these Bibles and stories. Talk with your children about it and pray with them. You see yourself in a desperate situation; you are displaced. You ask God: How can I manage? Read the Bible you received, pray, and ask God to guide you. He will answer. He will be with you. May He bless you.” Adama, one of the pastors, who took part in the distribution.

“My name is Gamaliel, and I thank you for this package. All the children here say thank you for these gifts. We will keep you in our hearts for everything you did for us. May God bless you and let you grow. May He give you victory in everyday tasks. We ask you not to forget us because our life here is difficult.” Gamaliel, one of the boys who received a pack.
