Tragedy in Kabul
Review by Cameron
Many of us who read the VOM magazine observe suffering from the outside, not knowing the internal experience of suffering for the faith. Hannelie Groenewald gives us the confronting gift of what it’s like to experience the loss of loved ones for the sake of Jesus, showing the inward wrestles that accompany the path of costly ministry. In her memoir, she explores her family’s choice to deny themselves by leaving their home to serve the Lord in Afghanistan, and the terrorist attack that took the lives of her husband and two children. I appreciated Hannelie’s honest detailing of this painful experience, as well as her pointing to the goodness and sovereignty of God. This is a helpful resource for those who wish to better understand the internal experience of the persecuted believer and serves also as a well-painted portrait of life in Afghanistan.
Overall: A well-detailed look at a painfully real experience.
