MEXICO: From the Field

Specific areas within Mexico have a high concentration of indigenous minority groups. These minority communities, which maintain a separate identity and language, are systematically oppressed by local authorities. Christians among them are persecuted by Marxist and animist groups as well as village leaders. Tribal leaders persecute Christians in defence of their indigenous culture in several rural areas, and the federal government allows this. These communities are remotely located and difficult to reach. Despite persecution, the number of Christians has continued to grow in these areas.

Pastor Dorian and his family have been sharing the gospel with the Chinantec people in several unreached communities in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. They have to walk long distances through very dangerous areas due to their Christian faith, but they put their trust in the Lord each day for protection.

In December 2023, Dorian and his family, together with other new believers in Christ, received a number of threats. At around the same time, several believers were arrested and jailed, beaten and finally expelled from their community simply for having begun to follow Jesus and for not denying His name.

Brother Dorian continues to receive threats, stating, that if he keeps teaching from the Bible, he will have to face the consequences. There have been surprising incidents of how God has taken care of him, allowing him to pass unnoticed through towns containing those waiting for him in ambush.

Brother Dorian’s desire and goal every day is that more lives surrender to Jesus Christ for His glory.

Audio recordings are made so that the Chinantec people can hear biblical stories in their own language. They have been very successful for the gospel, and more are needed.

“But when they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. Matthew 10:23 – Jesus speaking.
