Our front-line workers in Vietnam have been informed that a recent decree in relation to church registration is being used by local authorities in an attempt to halt church growth. They write to us saying, “Christian persecution is getting worse. Please pray for our brothers’ and sisters’ faithfulness, boldness and wisdom in following Christ.”
1. Brother Dung is a VOM-supported front-line worker; he has a strong zeal for God and boldness in preaching the gospel. The number of people he has led to Christ is considerable, so much so that he has divided believers into three house churches, altogether totalling more than 100 people. Recently, he was beaten in a targeted attack. The x-ray result showed he had a clavicle (collarbone) fracture. Please pray for his complete healing and that his faith grows even stronger.
2. Bao and his wife were the first converts in their village. Since their conversion, they have suffered severe persecution, including land confiscation and physical attacks from village leaders and local authorities. Their eldest son also suffered a severe beating, so vicious that he was admitted to the hospital. He later succumbed to his wounds and died. Recently, local authorities threatened Bao, saying, “…because of [you], there are more Jesus followers in the village.” Last week, Bao was found unconscious in a local rice field with bleeding from the nose, mouth and ears. He was rushed to the hospital but later died due to the severity of his injuries.
Voice of the Martyrs Australia is assisting these families.
