Recently, a 14-year-old Christian girl was reportedly abducted by five men outside her home in Sialkot, Punjab province, Pakistan.
Sharif Masih said he fears the kidnappers may try to forcibly convert his daughter, Saneha Sharif, to Islam and force her to marry one of the suspects.
“Saneha was lured out of the house by a Muslim girl whose family had recently moved to our neighbourhood,” Masih told sources. “A neighbour … saw her being bundled into a van.”
Masih, who works as a sweeper at a wedding marquee and is a member of the Brethren Church, said the suspects included a man who had been making unwelcome advances toward his daughter, which she had always discouraged. He said he informed police as soon as he learned of her abduction on 9 January. However, despite repeated pleas to the police, they have not been making any effort to recover Saneha.
He added that his wife had become ill after their daughter’s disappearance, requiring her to receive hospital treatment twice.
PRISONER UPDATE
The health of Zafar Bhatti, a 62-year-old pastor who has been in prison on blasphemy charges in Pakistan for more than 12 years, has reportedly been described as ‘critical’ by the prison doctor. Zafar has several health conditions, including diabetes and sores on his back, and is receiving treatment for gangrene in his right foot. Most concerning of all is his heart, which is said to be functioning at only 10% capacity.
His wife, Nawab Bibi, also faces her own health issues.
This is rather a crude suggestion. Whenever I had unwelcome advances from the male population I would remind them that i was i temple of the Holy Spirit and that touching me could result in them catching the Holy Spirit. It actually worked – on each and every occasion they decided to respect my Christian values.
