NEPAL: Christian Wife Stands Firm Despite Continual Abuse

29 October 2024

There is a small, visible Christian community in Nepal, but believers experience opposition from extremists among the Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and Marxist groups. Christians face false accusations, harassment and beatings from family and communities.

Goma Kunwar has suffered repeated beatings and mistreatment at the hands of her Hindu husband, Tek Bahadur, since putting her faith in Christ in 2022. More than once, his attacks have been life-threatening.

On 2 January, Goma’s husband beat her badly and attacked her with a sickle, cutting her head so that she required medical treatment.

Friends and neighbours are urging her to give up her faith. Despite the abuse, and warnings from friends, Goma does not want to leave the Lord.

    Pray for them

Pray that the Lord will provide the physical, emotional and spiritual care needs of Goma as she continues to face trials at the hands of her husband.

Ask God to use Goma as a light and testimony to those around her, that her husband and many more would come to faith in Christ.

Thank the Lord for believers in Nepal. Ask God to continue strengthening and providing for them each day as many face similar attacks from friends, family and their community.
