The Safe Home project aims to provide essential support and refuge for Christians who have experienced persecution for their faith. Through this initiative, we seek to create an environment where individuals and families can transition towards independence while ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.
As of now, the Safe Home is sheltering 23 people, including children. This facility has provided urgent responses to various challenges faced by the residents, including food insecurity, medical treatment for injuries sustained from persecution, and emotional support.
The practical care provided includes:
· Basic needs: food, water, and medical care.
· Counselling services to help residents cope with trauma, anxiety, and depression stemming from their experiences.
· Daily Bible study and prayer time for growth and spiritual encouragement.
· Access to education and vocational training to equip individuals to find suitable job opportunities.
· Connection with the local church for support and fellowship.
Neha, a widow from a tribal background, faced persecution from her husband’s family, including physical violence; in addition to discrimination and isolation from her neighbours. She has found refuge for herself and her seven children, experiencing healing and a newfound sense of security. Neha is now learning to become a seamstress.
Kashvi, at just 13 years old, became homeless. She has no father, and her mother, who suffers from a mental disorder, is unable to care for her. At first, she lived with her sister, but when it was discovered that she had become a Christian, her sister refused to care for her and forced Kashvi out of their home. “I was left alone, hiding in the field for one night, but I was frightened that my sister would find me and beat me. I told my church, and they brought me to the safe home. God heard my cries for help; I know He loves me.” Kashvi is attending a local school.
As individuals and families progress towards self-sufficiency, our project leaders will gradually reduce support services, guiding the residents towards taking greater personal responsibility for their lives.
Thanks to our supporters, the Safe Home is a blessing for persecuted Christians in their journey towards safety and independence.
