Persecution of Christians in Vietnam frequently occurs in remote rural areas.
Persecution takes the form of harassment, mistreatment, bullying, detention and discrimination.
Christians often have difficulty finding work to support themselves and their families. In addition, they are often denied social benefits from the authorities during times of poor harvest or natural disaster.
Paying school fees for their children can be a difficult burden for parents who are already struggling to make enough money for a living.
Each year, VOM Australia provides an educational scholarship fund for more than 200 children (including some with special needs) of vulnerable, persecuted Christian families. Particular consideration is given to children of parents involved in ministry work.
Our Vietnamese project partners tell us: “The parents sincerely thank VOM for this support. Words cannot express how much they appreciate and are encouraged, knowing that there are other Christians who remember, love, pray and care for them in their time of need. Most importantly, even at a young age, the children learn that God is their provider and that He is faithful.”
“Dear donors, I praise the Lord for His love, and I thank Him for touching your hearts in remembering us, thinking of us and praying for us; a tribal people who live in a remote and isolated area. We are so grateful for that.
“… we were living in a difficult financial situation and in need, we Christians are discriminated against, pressured and treated with contempt. Praise the Lord, who is merciful and knows our hope; He has provided so that we have money to pay for school. He showed you to see our needs, to love us, and to help us.
“Since we do not know how we can ever repay you, we just sincerely pray for you all. We will also strive to do our best in school and love the Lord more … May God’s grace and His blessings be upon all of you and your families.”
