Leadership training: Afghanistan
Each year we fund mobile medical clinics in Egypt. In 2024, five clinics were run in different villages in Alexandria and Upper Egypt.
The clinics have two objectives, firstly to provide medical care to persecuted Christians, especially Muslim background believers, who face discrimination and targeted violence. Secondly, they are used as an outreach to Muslims.
Ten Christian doctors with the following specialities volunteered their services to provide medical examinations and treatment as required, to 767 patients.
· Dermatologist
· ENT Specialist
· Internal Medicine Physician
· Ophthalmologist
· Orthopaedist
· Paediatrician
· Pharmacists
The project organisers and team of doctors are specifically asked to join this valuable service because of their medical skills and experience but also because they have the heart to share the Good News with patients.
Joining us for the second year, one of the doctors on the team commented: “Some of our beloved MBB’s (Muslim background believer) brothers and sisters touched my heart with their testimonies of what God has done for them, bringing them from darkness to light. They truly became a great blessing to me, as I was encouraged by their stories and felt humbled in comparison to them, for they have sacrificed much to follow the Lord with all their hearts. May the Lord bless them as they have blessed me through this opportunity.”
Another doctor commented: “The Lord touched me personally through these medical clinics. I witnessed God’s amazing presence while examining the patients, and I felt that the Lord sent these patients to me not only for medical care but also to testify to them about His love through the compassion they experienced from us.”
The doctors pray with the patients and any who are interested in knowing more are asked to provide their contact details. The details are then given to a VOM front-line worker to follow up.
The mobile clinics are a valuable tool to provide much-needed medical care and a powerful witness to the love of Jesus Christ. God willing, we will repeat this project in 2025.
