Write to a Christian Prisoner

Writing to prisoners is an important way that we can identify with our persecuted family in Christ.

Personal letters are tangible evidence to imprisoned Christians, whether they can read them or not, that they are not forgotten and are a testimony of the unity and love of the Christian Church worldwide, especially to the authorities who may read them.

Letters to prisoners tell the authorities that outsiders are monitoring their activities and may even result in better treatment and/or earlier release.

Prisoner Alert

Prisoner Alert allows you to compose a letter using encouraging phrases and Bible verses in the prisoner’s own language. You can then print the letter and post it directly to the prisoner.

Choose a prisoner you wish to write to, (you can read their profile by clicking on their name), then click ‘Write Letter’. Choose a phrase from the drop-down list, click ‘Add Phrase’, choose a second phrase, click ‘Add Phrase’ again (up to 12 phrases) to compose your letter. Click ‘Continue’, then print the letter and post it to the address provided.

Additionally, this site provides details so you can write to government authorities on behalf of a prisoner.

If you prefer to write in English, you can do so. Please write simply and legibly. If the prisoner cannot read English, your letter still serves as a symbol of Christian love. Include where possible simple pictures, drawings and clipart of universal expressions for Christian care and love.

Do not mention: VOM, personal details or political views.
