The Pastor’s Wife
Review by Cameron

Many have read Richard Wurmbrand’s classic work Tortured for Christ. I highly implore those who have read Richard’s classic to then read what could be considered its companion piece, The Pastor’s Wife, written by Richard’s lifelong companion, Sabina.

Recounting the suffering she endured, Sabina transports the reader to the stark reality of separation from a loved one and the horrific experience of being a prisoner. Sabina beautifully weaves different stories together of how the Lord used her as a vessel of Christlike love to those around her, showing that her time in prison and away from the family she so dearly loved, was not wasted time. I found this to be of deep encouragement – Sabina’s kindness and love reminds us of Christ’s gentle and lowly heart towards us.

Her testimony is a warm and beautiful light amidst the horrors of suffering. Sabina’s memoir is a valuable account of the suffering of a wife and a mother who was willing to remain steadfast despite the horrors of life for a Christian under the pressures of communism.
