Few books have impacted me like Richard Wurmbrand’s Tortured For Christ. In his seminal classic, Richard details his experience in prison and then teaches readers to understand the glory and beauty of suffering for the sake of Christ. Richard’s perspective on persecution – and our response as loving representatives of Christ to our enemies – is central to Christian living. Jesus would, time after time, tell His disciples to expect persecution precisely because He suffered, and His followers are to mirror Him. Richard’s book is enlightening and moving, as he weaves together teaching and his own personal testimony of suffering to paint a picture of Christian persecution. I encourage readers who have not yet read Richard’s classic to read this book and find in it biblical wisdom that may positively contribute to a foundational understanding of Christian persecution.
Overall: Enlightening and moving – this is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand persecution!
