In rural areas of Vietnam, local authorities view Christianity as a foreign threat and often use discrimination, intimidation, property destruction, detentions, beatings and forced renunciations of faith to halt church growth. Several Christians have died while being tortured for their faith. Alongside persecution from the authorities, these believers also face discrimination from their communities. Often, Christians are prohibited from accessing their community’s water supply, their children are expelled from school, and they are forced from their homes and land.
